Our collectors are trained by the American Collectors Association, and
all IPS employees are continuously trained in the Fair Debt Collection
Practices Act (FDCPA) as well as other applicable laws such as HIPPA,
GLBA, FACTA and FCRA.
How do we do it? We apply a 3-step process to every account you send us.
Step 1: Research
We learn a LOT about your patient/client - probably more than you
already know.
Even if you don't know where they are, or the only phone you have for
them is disconnected, we can likely locate them quickly. Just about
every account you send us goes through the following research:
* A professional asset search, including property and current, open
credit lines;
* A search for their most current home address and telephone number,
including alternate addresses and phone numbers (including cellular);
* Verification of full legal name and social security number;
* A search to uncover employment or other sources of income your
customer may have;
* If relevant, we gather names, addresses, and telephone numbers of your
customer’s family, relatives, ex-spouses, and business associates from
whom we obtain location and employment information about your customer;
Step 2: A Strong Written Demand
We follow up our research with a highly persuasive letter. Written by
experienced collection professionals, our letters include a good amount
of custom information, as well as a strong implication that the lack of
a response will lead to the possibility of credit reporting and
litigation after a short period of time. Our letters grab your
customer’s attention and get strong results.
Step 3: Verbal Followup
One of our collection professionals will personally contact your
accounts by telephone to arrange for payment in full. Our primary goal
is to get you paid, but we are very aware that you have a public image
to maintain, and every action we take is weighed against the impact it
may have on your reputation. When we get your accounts on the phone, we
clearly explain all of the possible consequences that may result if the
account is not paid in full – immediately. If payment in full is not
possible, we begin working through other options that will get you paid
just as soon as possible. Bottom line: our professional collectors have
the knowledge and experience to persuade your accounts to pay.
Litigation
When our collectors determine an account has the means but not the
willingness to pay their account, we will verify their assets or income
and come to you to authorize legal action. Our goal is to quickly get a
judgment and act on it - without further cost or effort on your part.
We’ll retain the attorney, obtain the judgment, garnish wages, and pay
you off as quickly as the law allows.
